Iyar, month of counting our days
Leaving our past behind
Glancing back over our shoulders
Longing for the familiar

And yet
Does it make sense to return?
Or to focus forward toward the future?
Toward what we cannot see?

Led by cloud and fire
Gaining comfort with a presence that can be sensed
But not directly seen
Gaining trust that there will be guiding light
In the darkness

Learning to follow the signals –
When to travel and when to rest.
Gathering the stuff to nourish our souls
Learning that what we need will be there for us
In proper measure

Looking to each other as community on our way
And taking time for celebration
Of wise teachers
Of plagues ended
Of new ways
Of being
